About us

Photo of board members, three people. Many things in modern society require at least some computer skill: applying for a job, taking the GED test, communicating with family. We help by providing resources and information about successful endeavors to bridge the digital divide.

Our goals are listed on our main page. Our organizational structure including our board of directors are listed here.

Our accomplishments include:

  1. Launched in March, 2015, as an Illinois corporation recognized as a US 501(c)3
  2. For years, we partnered with agencies working to bridge the digital divide.  The notion of PBDD Partner Agencies had been key to our growth and development of resources. However, as the digital inclusion community has grown and broadened, we feel that maintaining a distinction between Partner and Other is contrary to the notion of inclusion that we aim to promote. Therefore, we thank all of those organizations that have participated to date, but we will be retiring the concept of a Partner Agency, and encourage everyone to participate in and contribute to the broader community, as identified through NDIA affiliation.
  3. Writing experience papers by gathering information from our partner agencies, looking for common themes, and analyzing the results.
  4. Documented and shared information about programs, processes, and resources to publicize existing programs, to facilitate collaboration and improve the capabilities of each of the member agencies. See our web pages under Training.
  5. Participated in industry conferences including sharing information gained through attendance. See write-ups from prior conferences in our newsletters.
  6. Provided scholarships for partners to attend conferences.
  7. Launched local initiatives via our MAPPINGS program.
  8. Adding to our partner profiles , with an in-person visit if possible.
  9. We were a sponsor for the 2021 online Net Inclusion conference and hosted a virtual reception associated with it including speed socializing with breakout rooms in zoom.
  10. Participated in NDIA working groups.
  11. Provided website support for several state coalitions as they were getting started in 2023.
  12. We sponsored four organizations to attend Net Inclusion in 2023.
  13. We sponsored four organizations to attend Net Inclusion in 2024.
  14. While many of our information consolidation pages (including Research, Public Policy Initiatives, Training) will be archived and no longer maintained, we will continue to work with NDIA and their affiliates to identify and develop resources that will serve the digital inclusion community. We will maintain resources that we have found to be unique and helpful which don’t overtax our capabilities.
